  1. ANNOUNCING TEXT FX FOR PAGESTREAM3

  3. Almost from the day in 1986 when we released the first version of
  4. what would become PageStream, our customers have asked us for the
  5. ability to put text on a curve and distort it inside shapes. Our
  6. first attempt at meeting this need was with 1992's Art Expression.
  7.  
  8. While AE did the job, our customers still asked us for a way to
  9. create text effects directly in PageStream. And you made it clear to
  10. us that it had to be easier to use. Making the top and bottom text
  11. on a circular crest had to be easier than the mental gymnastics
  12. which AE required.

  14. INTRODUCING TEXT FX FOR PAGESTREAM3
  15.  
  16. We're in the business of giving our customers what they ask for, so
  17. we're proud to introduce TextFX for PageStream3. It does what you've
  18. asked for and it couldn't be easier to use. It has more options than
  19. similar effects modules for any other desktop publishing or word
  20. processing program for any type of computer.

  22. TextFX is a PageStream3 extension and fits seamlessly into the
  23. PageStream3 interface. A new button will appear in the Edit palette
  24. for text objects to access the TextFX requester. It is sold
  25. separately because it required an enormous amount of work, and we
  26. didn't want to raise the price of PageStream to include it with the
  27. program.

  29. TextFX has all the capabilities of Art Expression's text effects
  30. features and then some. It can warp text inside any of the 50
  31. pre-defined shapes, and you can warp text in your own shapes via
  32. macros. Unlike AE, it can even warp multiple lines of text inside
  33. shapes. TextFX can wrap text around a curve like Art Expression, but
  34. also can do the more useful curved text effects as shown on the next
  35. page. TextFX can even convert TextFX objects and any frameless text
  36. object to graphics.

  38. TextFX is compatible with Compugraphic, PostScript and Soft-Logik
  39. DMF fonts. (It also works with TrueType fonts if you have the
  40. optional TrueType font engine.)

  42. TextFX will be available before the end of September 1995. You must
  43. have PageStream3 and at least 4MB of memory in your computer to use
  44. the TextFX extension.

  46. CALLING ALL ART EXPRESSION OWNERS!

  48. TextFX requires PageStream3 and costs $50. If you are a registered
  49. owner of Art Expression, you can buy TextFX for just $40. This isn't
  50. the only discount Art Expression owners will receive. We have plans
  51. for another exciting extension next year, and AE owners will get a
  52. discount on it too.

  54. HOW TO USE TEXTFX
  55.  
  56. Using the TextFX extension is as easy as 1­2­3. Here's how to create
  57. great-looking text effects with PageStream3:

  59. 1. Buy TextFX! Install it by double clicking on the easy installer.
  60.  
  61. 2. Create a text object by clicking on a blank area of a PageStream3
  62. page with the Text tool. Type some text.
  63.  
  64. 3. Click on the TextFX button in the Edit palette to open the TextFX
  65. requester. Choose the shape for warping text, or the curve for
  66. putting text on a curve. Click on Ok or Apply.

  68. Congratulations! You now are qualified to make your own text
  69. effects. You can resize, rotate and color your text effect now. If
  70. you decide you want a different effect, all you have to do is click
  71. on the TextFX button again to choose a different warp or curve icon.

  73. MORE FEATURES

  75. TextFX can be printed to any type of printer. You can also export
  76. them as a drawing in any supported drawing format.

  78. Unlike text effects created with Art Expression, TextFX objects are
  79. still text. You can convert them (or any frameless text object) to
  80. graphics with the TextFX extension. Just select a TextFX or text
  81. object and choose the Convert to Path command. Presto---it's now a
  82. drawing that you can edit with the Reshape tool or export for use in
  83. many other programs.

  85. You can use TextFX on text objects with more than one line of text
  86. and choose gradient and shape fills. If the provided shapes don't
  87. meet your needs, TextFX gives you total control over the shape with
  88. its powerful ARexx macro command.
